Beverly Ann Barcheski, 63, of 2508 Canterbury Road, Urbandale, died of a heart attack Friday at Mercy Hospital Medical Center. Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Hamilton's Funeral Home, with burial at Glendale Cemetery.

Mrs. Barcheski was born in Winterset and lived in the Des Moines area many years. She was a supervisor with Equitable of Iowa.

Survivors include her husband, Alvin; a son, Alvin Jr. of Madison, Wis.; a daughter, Janet Green, and her mother Verdie Craft, both of Des Moines; and a grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Variety Club of Iowa.

Beverly Ann Thornburg Barcheski was born August 9, 1933 in Winterset, IA (Madison County). Parents were Verdie Elizabeth Thornburg (later Craft) and an unnamed father. Beverly graduated from Winterset High School in 1952 and moved to Des Moines, where she worked at WHO-TV as a receptionist and coordinator of commercial "traffic." She left her employment at the time of her marriage to Alvin H. Barcheski, but returned to the workforce in 1978 as Commissions Supervisor for Equitable of Iowa, where she was still employed at the time of her death. She died December 6, 1996 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines. IA, following a heart attack. She was a confirmed "news hound" and also enjoyed caring for pets, especially cats.
