Raymond A. Mahler Sr.
Mr. Mahler, 81, of Hazlet, and Pinellas Park, Fla., died Feb. 18, 2007, at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Jersey City, he resided there prior to relocating to Hazlet 50 years ago. He was an electrical supervisor at Exxon Corporation, Linden, for 37 years, retiring in 1983. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II, and received The European and American Theatre Medals, and the Victory Medal. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2179, Port Monmouth section of Middletown, and Past Commander of the American Legion, Keyport. He was predeceased by two brothers; two sisters; and his first wife, Lorraine Mahler. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Mahler; four sons and two daughters-in-law, Raymond A. and Maria Mahler Jr., Andrew and Carrie Mahler, and Arthur Mahler, all of Hazlet; and Glenn Mahler of Florida; a daughter and son-in-law, Lorraine and David Best of Hazlet; a sister, Eileen Leniart of Carteret; a brother, Donald Mahler of Belle Mead; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Feb. 21 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Day Funeral Home, Keyport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Feb. 22 at 9:45 a.m. at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Union Beach. Interment will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown.
