S. J. Lomax, Sr., a resident of Ruston for over 30 years, died at his home at about 1 a.m. this morning after a prolonged illness. Death came as a result of heart failure brought on after a long illness with asthma and unresolved pneumonia.

Recently Mr. Lomax had returned from San Angelo, Texas, where he had been sent by his doctor in an attempt to relieve his asthmatic attacks. He remained there for approximately two months.

Over a year previous Mr. Lomax had gone to Oklahoma City, Okla. for an examination by specialists for asthma.

The deceased was born February 11, 1879 on a farm in the Walnut Creek community several miles northwest of Simsboro. He was 61 years of age when death came.

Surviving Mr. Lomax is his wife, Mrs. Hattie Gibson Lomax; three sons, George and Billy of Ruston, and Jesse Jr., of Monroe; four brothers, Burt and Dallas of Ruston, Emmett of Henryetta, Okla., and Donnan of Bernice; two sisters, Mrs. C. D. Holleman of Ruston and Mrs. J. I. Poole of Smithville, Tex.

Funeral services will be held at the family home at 404 South Monroe street at 3:30 o'clock, according to members of the family. The Rev. W. E. B. Lockridge of the First Baptist church of Ruston, will be in charge.

Immediately following the preliminary services, the body will be carried to the Walnut Creek Baptist church, of which Mr. Lomax was a member, where interment will follow. Mr. Lomax had been instrumental in building the church there years before.

Pallbearers for the funeral had not been selected as the Leader went to press, the family waiting on several other relatives to arrive in Ruston before completing details.

Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Ruston is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
