He was married to Alice Knapp in Beloit on February 17, 1935. He had resided in Janesville for 25 years before moving to Rockford 4 years before his death. He was a former member of the Janesville Optimists and Elks Club, and a member of St. Bridget Catholic Church in Loves Park. Surviving are his wife; two daughters; seven grandchildren; two brothers,
