Mrs. Elizabeth King Lord, wife of Rev. Nathan Lord, D.D., formerly of Dartmouth College, died in Lowell Monday afternoon of typhoid fever, aged seventy-eight years. The body is to be taken to Hanover, N. H., for interment. She had been stopping with her husband at the residence of her son-in-law, Andrew Mood, Esq.

The memory of Mrs. Lord is very precious to the few who remember her as the pastor's wife, adn to the thousand friends who have made her acquaintance at Hanover and elsewhere--She was a fitting companion for one so worthy and universally beloved.

OBITUARY
The Late Mrs. Lord, Wife of Rev. Dr. Nathan Lord, Ex-President of Dartmouth College
From the Boston Advertiser, 5th.

There was buried yesterday at Hanover, one of the most remarkable women whom this country has known. She died on Sunday last, at Lowell, of a slow typhoid fever. She was born in Saco, about 80 years ago, and was a niece of the Hon. Rufus King, whose intellectual qualities she also possessed. For more than fifty years she adorned every station in which she was placed-first in Amherst, N. H., as the wife of the most influential minister of the State, and afterward at Hanover-a helpmate to her husband-the joy of a cultivated circle of friends, and the mother of a large family, some of whom have become distinguished, among which may be mentioned the Rev. J. K. Lord of Cincinnati, who died after a short but brilliant career of usefulness-the Rev. Dr. William H. Lord, of Montpelier, and the Hon. Henry C. Lord, of the same city. Few women have left a more hallowed name, or more endearing influence-revered for her Christian virtues and graces, and the pride of a happy home. Few are the Alumni of Dartmouth College who do not remember her noble figure, her great attractions, her noble traits of character and her exalted worth, ever ready to extend charities and hospitalities and sympathies-almost worshipped by her family, and revered in all the circles in which she had moved and graced. And few there are who have known the lovely village in which she lived who will not deeply sympathize with the intrepid, intellectual, Christian old man, who is now deprived of the great partner of his honorable life-by whose loyalty and devotion he was in part sustained in his great labors and heave responsibilities. Who can estimate the influence of such a woman? Who, that knew her, will not shed a tear for such a loss-to him-and to the church and society of which she was so bright an ornament, above all a glorious witness to the power of Christian faith and love. Requiescat in pace.
