Opal Barnard
Services for Opal E. Barnard, 75, of Wilder Route 1, who died Thursday, Oct. 13, at home, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Wilder Cemetery by the Rev. Keith Yarter of the Golden Gate Baptist Church, Wilder, under the direction of Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Homedale.
She was born Dec. 2, 1907, at Ozark County, Missouri, to Eran and Sarah Belle Tennant. She moved with her family to Delaware County, Oklahoma, where she was reared and educated. She married Charles Barnard on Oct. 24, 1925, at Jay, Okla. The lived at Jay for several years. Then they moved to the Los Angeles area of California in 1938. She helped her husband in their carpet and blind business. She also helped her husband do carpenter work.
In 1953 they moved to the Homedale area. They farmed in the Central Cove area until 1971 when they retired.
She is survived by her husband, Charles, of Wilder; four sons, Donval Barnard of Hillsboro, Ore.; Duane Barnard of Boise; Callynn Barnard of Torrance, Calif., and Tennan Barnard of Wilder; one daughter, Wilma Powell of Umatilla, Ore.; one brother Ansil Quick of Marsing; three sisters, Golda Earp and Deonna Hughes of Jay, Okla., and Dolly Hughes of Caldwell; 18 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by nine brothers and six sisters and her parents.
