Stilson - Mr. Charles Steven "Steve" Brown, age 58, died Thursday afternoon at the St. Joseph's/Candler Hospital in Savannah. The Cape Girardeau, Mo., native lived in Bulloch County most of his life. He was a 1965 graduate of Southeast Bulloch High School. Mr. Brown was a graduate of Georgia Southern University with a degree in criminal justice, a graduate of the John Marshall Law School and The Federal Bureau of Investigation National Academy. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Vietnam War. Mr. Brown retired from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation as a Special Agent in Charge after 28 years of service. He taught justice studies at Georgia Southern University, worked as an EMT at Bulloch County EMS and in Chatham County and owned and operated CSB and Associates Private Investigators. Mr. Brown was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Police, the Peace Officers Association of Georgia and the Blue Knights. He was a member of the Brooklet United Methodist Church, where he was a member of the John Wesley Sunday School Class.

Surviving are his wife of 36 years, Joyce Clifton Brown of Stilson; three daughters and sons-in-law, Stephanie and Joel Osteen of Sunbury, Susan and Mike Townsend of Springfield, Va., and Sarah and Jason Malick of Rincon; three grandchildren, Kyle and Luke Osteen of Sunbury and Karah Malick of Rincon; his parents, Gerald and June Brown of Stilson; a sister and brother-in-law, Beverly and Jimmy Lanier of Brooklet; and his father-in-law, Spec Clifton of Statesboro.

The funeral service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Brooklet United Methodist Church with the Rev. Wes Moye officiating. Burial will be in the Old Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery in Stilson.
