Alma (Elma) D. Owens, 94 years, of Monroe, MI went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 20, 2011 at 7:35 AM in Fountain View of Monroe. Alma had been in declining health for the past 2 months.

Born March 6, 1917 in Tazewell, TN, Alma was the daughter of the late William J. and Lillian Marie (Bean) Percival. Alma was a 1935 graduate of Monroe High School.

On September 28, 1964, Alma married her beloved husband Jack P. Owens in Bellflower, California. They moved back to Monroe in 1977.

Alma worked as a supervisor for North American Rockwell Corporation in Anaheim, CA for 30 years. She retired in 1977.

Alma was a member of Monroe Alliance Church. An excellent cook and seamstress, Alma enjoyed flower gardening and crocheting.

Alma is survived by her beloved husband of 46 years, Jack and her sister and brother in law Joyce D. and Alvin Lewis of Monroe.

In addition to her parents, Alma was preceded in death by a sister Helen Marie Henry and her stepfather; Samuel Jennings.

Visitation will be held on Monday from 2-8 PM in the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., in Monroe where funeral services celebrating her life will be held on Tuesday, August 23, 2011 at 1:00 PM. The Rev. Nils Saunders and the Rev. Roy Southerland will officiate. Interment will follow at Historic Woodland Cemetery in Monroe.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Monroe Christian Missionary Alliance Church.
