He served in WWII in the Navy and was stationed in the South Pacific. Before entering the service he worked for Greyhound as a driver and then on to California Motor Express a large trucking company where he stayed for 30 years.

He was also a private piolt who flew when younger and then flew ultralights later in life.

Roy was born in Oregon but grew up in San Luis Obispo, CA where he started his family and then moved to the Whittier CA area.

He married Barbara Martin and were together for 42 years before her passing. They had two daughters, Carole Hemstreet and Deanna Hemstreet White. His daughter Deanna died in a car accident in 1972. She left behind 2 children, Tracey and Jeff White. Roy's other grand children are Alan, Chris and David Novak.

He came from a family of hard working people and was the 10th generation USA. Coming from such a large family taught him how to do just about anything and never feared doing any project. He helped me remodel a home and I learned a great deal from him.

He will be missed.
