Veda O. Lokken, 93, of Parkers Prairie, Minnesota died on Monday, May 21, 2001 at the Emmanuel Home in Litchfield, Minnesota.
The daughter of George and Rosina (Runkle) Angell, she was born May 14, 1908 in Burr Oak Township, Mitchell County, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed on May 15, ,1947 at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Parkers Prairie, Minnesota, Reverend C.E.T. Peterson, Pastor. On August 31, 1930, she and Melvin Lokken were married in Cottonwood, Minnesota.
Veda lived in Burr Oak Township in Iowa until she was eight years old. She then moved with her family to Parkers Prairie area where she grew up and graduated from Parkers Prairie High School in 1927. After her marriage, Veda lived in Parkers Prairie area and Folden Township. Veda was a grocery store clerk at Potratz Grocery and Lorine Grocery for many years. She was an active member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Parkers Prairie.
Survivors included one daughter: Maxine Boehne and husband Dale of Stone Lake, Wisconsin; two sons: Merlyn Lokken and wife Kathleen of Vining, Minnesota, and Roger Lokken of Los Angeles, California; 19 grandchildren; 41 great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; one brother: Vaughn Angell of Fairbault, Minnesota; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Veda was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Melvin who died on November 7, 1987; daughter Aileen; brothers: Merrill and Glenn.
Burial will be in Parkers Prairie Cemetery, Parkers Prairie, Otter Tail County, Minnesota.
