Ester N. Cox, 65, Platte City, died Nov, 15, 1992 at the home. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the First Christian Church of Platte City; cremation. Friends may call from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today at the Rollins Chapel, Platte City. The family suggests contributions to the church or to the Ben Ferrel Museum. Mrs. Cox was born in Dearborn in Platte County and and moved to Platte City in 1945. She was a bookkeeper for Platte-Clay Electric Co-Operative Inc. from 1945 until she retired in 1991. She was past president of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary in Platte City, a member of the Platte County Memorial Park Association, registrar and past secretary of the Platte Purchase chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and vice president of the Platte County Historical Society. She was past president of the Platte County Eleemosynary Society and was reservation chairman of its charity Ball. She was a charter member of the Friends of the Northland Symphony. She was a Girl Scout council leader. She was a member of the church, where she was a choir member, Sunday school; teacher, and board secretary. She was a Eucharistic minister for nursing home patients. Her husband, Billy G. Cox, died in 1987. Survivors include two daughters, Jane Williams, Columbia, and Judy Richmond, St. Joseph; a brother, Frank J. Downing, Dearborn; two sisters, Etta Belle Miller, Platte City, and Vida Jo Foster, Dearborn; and six grandchildren.
