On August 7, 1884 she married John M.Crowe, Ph.D., archaeologist and educator and professor of Greek at Iowa College in Grinnell Iowa. They had one daughter Agatha in 1888 who died in 1890.
In 1891 she was sent by the National Bureau of Education to investigate conditions of higher education of women in Great Britain and other European countries.
