Mabel I. Huston, 95, of Lake Wales, Fla., formerly of Franklin, diedof heart failure Thursday, April 24, 2003, in Lake Wales Medical
Center ECF.
Born Sept. 5, 1907, in Franklin, she was the daughter of Bill and Effie Heasley Hannz.
Mrs. Huston moved in 1998 from Franklin to Lake Wales.
She had owned and operated Huston Florist in Franklin and had been a buyer for J.T. Campbell & Son Department in Franklin.
Mrs. Huston was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Franklin.
She also was a member of the DAR, Venango Chapter of Franklin, and the Business and Professional Women of Franklin. She was a former
member of the Order of Eastern Star.
Mrs. Huston enjoyed boating, the outdoors, animals and helping others.
She was married to Walter E. "Bud" Huston, who died in 1961.
Surviving are two daughters, Nancy Hicks and husband, Charles, of Lake Wales, Fla., and Mary Lou Cowan of Rockport, Mass.; a son and his
wife, Gene and Mary Ellen Huston of Adamstown; a daughter-in-law, Theresa Huston of Lake Wales, Fla.; 13 grandchildren, Jennifer Anderson, Lori Miller, Tim Huston and Dave Huston, all of Lake Wales, Fla., Mark Nicks and Michael Nicks of Crawfordville, Fla., Jon Huston of Randolph, N.J., Jane Huston of Adamstown, Rick Cowan of New
Hampshire, Rory Cowan, Deborah Cowan and Livia Cowan, all of Massachusetts, and Craig Huston of Charlotte, N.C.; and 19 great-grandchildren.
She also is survived by a sister, Genevieve Goodman of Franklin.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Huston was preceded in death by a son, Samuel D. Huston, in 1986, and a stepson, Mark Huston,
in the 1940s.
The family will receive friends just prior to funeral services at 1 p.m. Saturday in the First United Methodist Church, Franklin. The Rev.
James Shaver, pastor of the church, will officiate.
Interment will be in Franklin Cemetery.
