In New York, after a lingering illness, Mr. John G. Gorton, formerly of this city, in the 45th year of his age. His remains were brought to this city on Tuesday, and deposited in the Island Cemetery. He was a member of the Episcopal Church in the city of his adoption, and leaves a wife and three children to mourn his loss.
"Brother, rest from sin and sorrow;
Death is o'er, and life is won;
On thy slumber dawns no morrow;
Rest; thine earthly race is run."
