John Atwood married first, at Hingham, 10 February
1707/08, Sarah Leavitt, daughter of Israel and Lydia
(Jackson) Leavitt, born at Hingham, November 27, 1688,
died at Plymouth, January 23, 1725/26; buried on
Burial Hill, Plymouth.
He married second, at Plymouth, June 8, 1730,
Experience Pierce, born circa 1704; died at Plymouth,
April 14, 1762, in 58th year; buried on Burial Hill.
"John Atwood was a brewer and lived in the house
at Plymouth occupied by his son-in-law, Ichabod
Shaw...John Atwood built this house before 1701 on
land extended from where the Catholic Church now
stands to the land where the Samoset Hotel now
stands, also East and West.
John Atwood and Sarah his wife were admitted to the
First Church in Plymouth, January 22, 1709.
On June 13, 1734, "James, a Negro man belonging to
Deacon John Atwood & Nanne, a Negro woman belonging
to Mr. Robert Brown" were married at Plymouth; their
intentions were filed May 25 (VR, 98, 161, MD, 14:75,
17:35).

Christ in this Town for about 40

and in the Course of his Life
adorned ye Doctrine of his Saviour
