"George Kopmeier, as head of one of the largest business enterprises, is well known in commercial circles in Louisville as president of C. F. Vissman & Company, pork packers. He stands at the head of this enterprise, which figures prominently in industrial circles in the city; and his success is owing to the fact that he has mastered every detail of this vast business; to the readiness with which he recognized opportunity; and to his adaptation of new conditions evolved in business life to the needs of the present day.
Mr. Kopmeier was born in Louisville, Kentucky, March 4, 1855, the son of the late George H. Kopmeier, who came to this country from Hanover, Germany, in the forties and located in Louisville." (A History of Kentucky and Kentuckians, Vol. 2)
