George was born Sept. 8, 1926, in Springfield, Mo., to Dewey and Amy Stevens. He moved to Iowa Falls in 1950, and was married to Kathleen Graham, daughter of Ellen and Lawrence Graham of Iowa Falls on July 7, 1951. George managed General Gas Corporation in Iowa Falls until the company was sold to Ferrellgas and he moved to Arizona in 1978. He was an active member of the Iowa Falls community serving on the Ellsworth College Board of Trustees, was the first president of the Iowa Falls Senior Citizen Housing and was instrumental in the development and construction of the Timberview Apartments. He was a charter member of the Knights of Columbus and held various offices in the Iowa Propane Gas Association. At the time of his death he was a tax consultant.
George is survived by his wife, Kathleen; two sons, Mark of Scottsdale, Timothy and his wife, Laurel, of South Pasadena, Calif., and Joseph and wife, Rebecca, of Littleton, Colo.; two daughters, Mary Pendergast and husband, John, of Culver City, Calif., and Anne Halversen and her husband, Douglas, of Scottsdale; eight grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Boyd of Springfield, Mo., and Virginia Johnson and husband, Max , of Iowa Falls. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Dewey Stevens.
