James was the son of Miller Edwards and Mary Ann Watters Edwards. On 11 December 1868, James Henry Edwards and Rebecca Josephine Robinson were married in Union Parish, Louisiana.

OBITUARY: James EDWARDS, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. A. B.
HORTMAN Wednesday night at the age of 80 years. He was stricken with paralysis about a month ago and never regained consciousness. He was a member of the Baptist church. Services were conducted at the grave in the Mt. Lebanon, La. cemetery on Thursday afternoon by the Rev. W. D. ALFORD of Minden, La.

Survived by three sons, G. W. EDWARDS of Arcadia, La., J. D. EDWARDS of Homer, La., and John B. EDWARDS of Bradley, Ark.; one daughter, Mrs. A. B. HORTMAN of this place; five brothers, George, A. N. , Arthur, and P. C. EDWARDS of Marion, La. and Burrough EDWARDS of Farmerville, La.
