HILTONS, Va. - Ada Bruce Smith Sorah , 68, Hiltons community, went home to be with the Lord at her residence at 2 a.m. Friday (Sept. 3, 1999).
She had been on kidney dialysis for the past 19 years. Ada lived her early years in Big Stone Gap before moving to Hiltons, Va.
She attended the Church of God in Hiltons. She was an inspiration to all that knew her. She was a former employee of Kingsport Press and retired from Lynn Garden Hardware.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Henderson and Geanie Smith.
Surviving are her husband, Charles (Cotton) Sorah , of the home; daughter, Mrs. Bo (Teresa) Glover, Yuma, Va.; grandsons, Chris and Charlie Glover; granddaughter, Mrs. Anthony (April) Helton, East Carters Valley; great-granddaughters, Ashley Nicole Glover and Alex Helton; four sisters, Mrs. Wayne (Nadine) Maness and Joyce Purvis, both of Big Stone Gap, Va., Gay DeRossett, Weber City, Va., Mrs. Jim (Faye) Parrish, Kokoma, Ind.; four brothers, Donald Smith, Big Stone Gap, Va., Clyde Smith, Duffield, Va., Jack Smith, Weber City, Va., and Robert C. Smith, East Carters Valley; 10 nephews; and six nieces; several great-nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 6 to 9 p.m. today at Colonial Funeral Home, Weber City, Va., and also anytime at the residence.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Cecil Kern officiating.
Burial will be in Holston View Cemetery. Grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers.
