Maud Blackman, daughter of Allen and Annie Blackman was born near Coyville, Wilson County, Kansas on October 1, 1874 and passed away July 13, 1949 at the St. Joseph Hospital in Wichita. She was the oldest child of a family of two sisters and three brothers, two of which John and Joe preceded her in death.

She was married to Claude C. Purkapile in 1905 in Fall River, Kansas and had resided there since. She was a helpmate in her husband mercantile business.

She is survived by her husband and two sisters, Mrs. W.T. Peters of Eureka and Mrs. Beatrice Johnson of Oklahoma City, and one brother, Chas. A. Blackman of Oklahoma City.

Funeral service was held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, July 15 at the Methodist Church in Fall River, conducted by Rev. Ray Walkenborst of Eureka. The Eastern Star of which she was a 50 year member, attended in a body. Music was furnished by Mrs. Lee Broderick, Mrs. Clyde West and Mae DeFever. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery in Eureka.
