Our beloved father, Frank William Salt, age 93, passed away August 4, 1994 at his home in Fremont, Utah, the place that he loved most.
He was born July 30, 1901, in Ogden, Utah, a son of William Thomas and Daisy Deseret Singleton Salt. He was the first of five children born to them. He married Emma Kunz February 24, 1921 in Logan, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple January 16, 1945. They are the parents of four children. Emma passed away April 19, 1989. Frank worked for the D & R G Railroad as a machinist for many years. He was seriously injured on the railroad in 1932, but regained his health. He often spoke of the men he worked with on the railroad. He was a Veteran of World War I, serving willingly in the Army Infantry. During World War II, he served as a Civil Defense Director, trying to encourage bomb shelters and serve his country in the best manner he could. He was also a hamm radio operator and served many people in both his community and abroad by helping others to communicate with their loved ones. He and Emma served our Heavenly Father by working in the LDS Church in many capacities. He loved to raise a garden, even up to this very year. One of the things he loved the very most was fishing and hunting.
He is survived by his children: William ''Bill'' and Jo Salt of Bountiful, Utah; Margaret Ruth and Willie Campbell of Brookings, Oregon; Richard ''Dick'' and Donna Salt of Erda, Utah; 19 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren, 12 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters: Ione S. Hurst and Annie S. Riddle, both of Ogden. He was preceded in death by a daughter and her husband, Dorothy Deseret and Richard ''Dick'' Worthen; a grandson: Billy Salt; two great-grandchildren: Elizabeth Bake and Jason Troy Singleton; one great-great-grandson: Zachary May and two brothers: Roy W. Salt and Charles Salt.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 9, 1994 at 1:00 p.m. in the Fremont LDS Ward Chapel where friends may call for viewing Tuesday morning from 11:00 to 12:30 prior to the services. Burial with military honors accorded by the Harold Brown American Legion Post #92 will be in the Fremont Cemetery under the direction of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
