George Jacob Yancey, 100, Camelot Health and Rehabilitation Center, Harrisonburg, died Wednesday, April 18, 2001. He had lived at Camelot for the past year.

Mr. Yancey was born Oct. 13, 1900, at Bonnie Brook Farm, Keezletown , and was a son of the late Layton Lee and Elizabeth Sellers Yancey.

He was a retired beef cattle farmer and had a milk truck route serving the milk producers in the community for Shenandoah Valley Milk Producers for a number of years. After he retired, he and his wife moved to Belmont Estates in Harrisonburg and he had been employed at Rocking R Hardware and Valley Gift Shop.

Mr. Yancey was the oldest member of Fellowship United Methodist Church. He served as treasurer of the building fund for the present church built in 1956.

On Dec. 31, 1925, he married the former Ruth Perry Heldreth, who died March 12, 1994.

Surviving are a daughter, Dorothy Y. Harpine, Harrisonburg; a brother, Daniel F. Yancey, Broadway; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

The Rev. Thomas Lesh will conduct a graveside service at 11 a.m. Saturday at Woodbine Cemetery .

The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at McMullen Funeral Home in Harrisonburg.
