Born Jan. 21, 1834 in Bradford County, Pennsylvania.
Moved with her parents to Ohio when a child. Lived there one year, then moved to Van Buren County, Iowa. Was married there to William B. Rutledge on April 8, 1852. After their marriage they moved to Davis County, Iowa. They lived there eighteen years, moving to Nebraska, and from there to Cloud County, Kansas.
Homesteaded two miles north of Glasco on March 9, 1873, and has resided in Glasco ever since.

Five children: Sarah, John, Florence, Mary and Ellen. Sarah died in infancy; John at the age of twenty.
Member of the Protestant Methodist Church.

Survivors: husband,three daughters, ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, a brother and four sisters.

Daughters are: Mrs. Florence Biggs, Kimball, Nebraska; Mrs. Mary Copeland and Mrs. Ellen Whalan, Glasco.

Died Dec. 23, 1912 at her home at Glasco, and was laid to rest in the Glasco cemetery on Christmas Day, 1912.
