Mr. Smith was born Feb. 11, 1880 the son of John O. and Fannie (Leatherman) Smith. As a young man, he taught rural school, and later became a farmer. He was a member of the Bronson Methodist Church and Branch Co. Farm Bureau. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Bernice (Good) Smith, a son Orlo, at home, a daughter, Mrs. Paul Work of Bronson, and two grandchildren, also two brothers, Jacob of Allegan and Saml of Bronson, and a sister, Mrs. Ernest Snook of Sturgis. A brother and two sisters preceded him in death.
