Jessie L. Edelman

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Carroll Funeral Home for Jessie Lillian Edelman, who died Tuesday in a Portland hospital. She was 88.

Mrs. Edelman was born in Barton and moved as a youth to Springdale, where she attended school. After completing school, she moved to Portland and worked briefly as an operator for the phone company and later as a seamstress for Newsteaders Clothing Manufacturing.

She moved to Gresham in 1921 and lived there until the late 1930s, when she returned to Portland. She also worked for Kafoury Blouse Factory.

She was a 55-year member and held various offices at Pleasant Valley Grange 348.

Surviving are her daughters, Flora Dennis and Ruthella Litke, both of Portland; sisters, Laura Dunlap of Portland and Mira Neilson of Springdale; eight grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

The family suggests that remembrances be contributions to a charity of choice or Portland Adventist Medical Center. Private interment will be in Douglass Cemetery in Troutdale.
