General Allison Owen - Aged 81 years.
Son of General William Owen and Caroline Amada Zacharie.
Attended Tulane University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
As an architect he designed some of New Orleans' major buildings, including the New Orleans Public Library at Lee Circle, Notre Dame Seminary on Carrollton, and the Criminal Courts Building on Tulane.

As a soldier, his military career included command of the Washington Artillery (First Louisiana Artillery) on the Mexican border in 1916, and command of the 141st Field Artillery in France in 1918 and 1919. His official retirement from military life, after 40 years of almost continuous service in the National Guard and Army, was on December 17, 1933.

As a civic leader, he received numerous awards and citations. One was the Times-Picayune Loving Cup for 1928 for public service. In 1943 he was made a Knight in the Order of St. Gregory the Great by the Pope. He was invested in ceremonies at St. Louis Cathedral on Dec. 6, 1943. He served as president of the New Orleans Parkway Commission, of which he was an organizer. He has served as president of the New Orleans Chapter of the American Red Cross, president of the New Orleans Association of Commerce in 1927 and 1932, president of the Judah P. Benjamin Memorial Association, president of the Community Chest, chairman of the planning and zoning commission, a member of the board of St. Mary Orphan Asylum, president of the Associated Catholic Charities and Metropolitan and Particular Council of the New Orleans Society of St. Vincent de Paul.

In 1895 he married Miss Blanche Pothier; two of their four children survive their father - Allison Owen, Jr. and Miss Cecile Owen. Also survived by his brother, Edward Pendleton Owen of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and a granddaughter, Miss Miller Owen.
