Nathaniel Henry Holman was the son of Henry Bowles Holman and Elizabeth (DuVal) Holman. He was born October 18 1812 in Barren County in the area of present day community of Beckton, Ketucky.

Nathaniel was married to Elizabeth "Eliza" Ann Button on 21 Dec, 1837 in Barren County, Kentucky. They were the parents of 10 children: Mary, Malisa, Nancy, James, Elias, Sarah, Marquis, Julia, Susan and John.

Nathaniel Henry Holman was a school teacher for many years in Barren County, Kentucky. He was listed in Frankin Gorin's book titled the "TIMES OF LONG AGO," as probably the first trained school teacher in Barren County, Kentcky. It is highly probable that his father was a school teacher as well. Nathaniel was very adapt at teaching mathematics and other academic subjects.

Nathaniel died 15 September 1883 in Barren County, Kentucky. He is buried with his wife and other family members in the Old Holman Cemetery located on what was known as the Johnny Richardson farm formerly the Old Holman Homestead on Highway 685 Barren County, Kenucky. He was of the Christian faith!
