Marion Simmons Gillespie died Sep. 16, 1942 in CO. He was born Aug. 10, 1902 to James Albert and Minnie Esther (Simmons) Gillespie. He married Ethel Lorinda Curtis on June 28, 1926 in El Paso County, Colorado Springs CO.

As a 10-year-old, he traveled with his parents from Gentry County, MO, to a homestead on the prairie of Morgan County. The six-week trek from November into December of 1913 was made in a mule-drawn covered wagon, sometimes part of a wagon train, sometimes solitary travel.

He attended the Antelope Springs one-room-school in Morgan County.

The family relocated to Old Colorado City in 1920 and then to Beaver Park in 1925 to run a hay farm and raise seed crops.

He is survived by his wife Ethel, sons James C. & John (aka Jack) Dwayne, daughters Marian, Ethel Joan & Esther Anne. Also by his brother Otis.

He is buried at Beaver Park Cemetery in Fremont County, Penrose, CO
