Rudy was the son of Martin FRICK and Rebecca ARNETT.

In 1850, he was with his parents in Miami Co., Indiana. In 1860, he was in Miami Co., Indiana, living with a young farm family (the BAUGHNs) doing farm labor.

In October 1861, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, as a Private in Company G., 40th Ohio Infantry Regiment. He was with the 40th Regiment until December 1864 when he was transferred to Company K, 51st Ohio Infantry Regiment. He mustered out of the 51st Regiment in October 1865 in Victoria, Texas.

He returned to Indiana and married Mary E. INGLE on June 13, 1866, in Randolph County. They had at least seven children: Martin P. (b. 1867), Rosa (b. 1869), Ida M. (b. 1870), William N. (b. 1873), Conway H. (b. 1875), Jesse (b. 1877), and Sarah C. (b. 1879).

In 1870, he was working as a huckster (a peddler of small articles, especially vegetables and fruits). In 1880, he was working as a carpenter.

Rudy's wife Mary died sometime before 1896 when Rudy married a widow woman who herself was the mother of seven children. He married the widow LONGENECKER, Ella Dorcas RINEHART, who was the widow of Franklin W. Longenecker. They lived in Union City, Darke Co., Indiana.

In November 1903, Rudy and Ella's son was born, Robert R. FRICK.

Rudy died in February 1904. His young son Robert died in September of 1905.
