Jane Jester Woods passed away in Tucson, Arizona on Monday, August 8, 2011. Jane was born in Corsicana, Texas on September 24, 1920 to Dr. Homer and Kate Jordan Jester.

Jane grew up in Corsicana amid extended family. She attended Hockaday School in Dallas, Hollins College, and the University of Texas. At the onset of WWII, Jane met and married Army Air Corps Captain Andrew Long Chilton. A daughter, Mary Jester Chilton, was born shortly before the death of Captain Chilton in Europe. Jane returned to live with her family in Corsicana. Nine years later, she married Sidney Sterling Woods of Yuma, Arizona.

Jane moved to Yuma and quickly made many friends as a result of her charming, positive personality. A son, Peter Cavanaugh Woods, was born to Sidney and Jane in 1955. Jane was a long time member of St Paul's Episcopal Church, was a devoted bridge player, and was active in many community organizations.

Jane was preceded in death by her husband, Sidney Woods in 1989. Jane is survived by her son, Peter Woods (Marilyn), Mary Chilton Gilley (Ron); six grand children: Rebecca Woods Siesco (Aaric), Allison Kristin Woods, Sydney Sterling Woods, Elizabeth Chilton Gaines (Brady Clifton), Edmund Pendleton Gaines, Andrew Cavett Gaines, and two great grandchildren: Kate Margaret Clifton and Lucas Stephen Siesco. Jane's friendly smile and loving personality will be sorely missed by her family and friends.

A memorial service will be celebrated at St Paul's Episcopal Church at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 13, 2011.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 1550 S 14th Avenue, Yuma, AZ 85364, or Odyssey Hospice, 5210 E. Williams Circle, Tucson, AZ 85711.
