J.H. Hammer, 77, was a Baptist minister, the postmaster in 1926, a Republican, a 32nd degree Mason, he also operated the Hammer Cotton Gin in Eufaula with his wife Ollie until 1961. He had come to Oklahoma in 1910. He was survived by his wife Ollie of the home; two daughters, Mrs Margaret Haggard of Oklahoma City, and Mrs Betty Creason of Beaumont, Texas; two brother, Bruce and Arnold of Tompkinsville, Kentucky; a sister, Mrs E.T. Thompson, and four grandchildren. 'Perhaps his greatest, recent disappointment, was the taking of most of his homestead for the Lake Eufaula reservoir. He hated to give it up.'
