Harry W Kulp, 64, an oft-decorated hero of World War II, died Thursday, June 27 at his home at 2000 Conner.
He was born in Muscatine, Sept 9, 1920 to William M and Margaret Lamb Kulp. He married Doris Barnes, Sept 6, 1940, in Burlington.
Mr Kulp was an employee of Wayne Bros Garnac Elevator. He was a member of First Christian Church.
As an Army Air Corps quartermater, he served in major battles in Normandy (Ardennes), Northern France Rhineland and Central Europe. He was awarded the Silver Star and four Bronze Stars for action in European, African and Middle Eastern theaters.
He was also presented with a special citation for his part in the Battle of the Bulge.
Surviving: His wife; three daughters, Christine Heyd, Honolulu, Hawaii, and Joyve Kulp and Carole Benton, both of Burlington; two brothers, Oric Kulp, Macomb, Ill and George Kump [Kulp], Burlington; and five sisters, Mary Unglesbee, Sun City, Calif, Jean Lewis, Gladstone, Ill, Evelyn Green, Ft Madison and Ethel Schroeder and Helen Kulp, both of Burlington; and three grandchildren.
Funeral: 10 a.m. Saturday at First Christian Church, the Rev Richard Gilbert; Aspen Grove Cemetery. Memorials have been establishd at the Lunning Chapel for First Christian Church and the Burlington Medical Center Hospice.
