The Eagle Lake Headlight, November 14, 2002:

LeeRoy Lewis Lundquist, 71, of Garwood, passed away Thursday, November 7, 2002. Born July 3, 1931 in Garwood, he was the son of David and Hulda Olson Lundquist.

A graduate of Wharton County Junior College and the University of Texas, he was a self-employed farmer and rancher, had been a real estate agent for Muegge Real Estate in Wharton, and was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in El Campo. Lundquist, a former member of the Garwood Lions Club, was chosen to received the El Campo Jaycee's Outstanding Young Farmer of the Year Award in 1965, and was a veteran of the Korean War.

Preceded in death by his parents, survivors include his wife, Peggy Marek Lundquist of Garwood; daughter and son-in-law, Cheri and Eric Muegge of Wharton; son and daughter-in-law, Todd Randolph and Becky Lundquist of Baytown; sisters, Margaret Montello of El Campo and Lillian Parolini of Hanover, California; five grandchildren, Lyle, Mason, and Layne Muegge of Wharton, and Brooke and Presley Lundquist of Baytown.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Monday, November 11, at Christ Lutheran Church in El Campo, with Rev. Art Weiss officiating. Burial followed in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in El Campo. Triska Funeral Home of El Campo was in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were Dale Hunt; Gregory Montello; Tommy Treybig; Lyle, Mason, and Layne Muegge; and Truman Jr. and Kirk Engstrom. Honorary pallbearers were Mark and Kirk Marek; Eric and Ervin Muegge; Hector Olvera; Parke Christenberry; Rodney and Monte Montello; Arthur Lee Dabney; Bob Fogele; and Tommy Metcalf.
