COLLINSTOWN, NC ~ Mr. James Harvey Bowman, 80, of Bowman Road, Collinstown, the husband of Annie Johnson Bowman, passed away Wednesday, April 12, 2000, at Northern Hospital in Surry County.

Mr. Bowman was born in Patrick County, Va., on May 10, 1919, the son of the late Pet and Lucy Bowman.

He was a retired farmer and a night watchman with Renfro Corp.

Survivors include his wife, Annie Johnson Bowman of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Pam & Billy Jarrell of Mount Airy and Carol & Davis Jessup of Asbury, NC; two sons and a daughter-in-law, James "Buck" and Imogene Bowman of Mount Airy and Dwight Bowman of Collinstown; eight grandchildren, Phil Bowman, Derrick Bowman, Billy Wayne Jarrell, Brad Jessup, Lance Bowman, Melissa Jessup, Michelle J. McKenzie and Sabrina Bowman; two great-grandchildren, Marlee McKenzie and Lucas Inman; a sister, Nell Johnson of Dobson; a half sister, Mollie F. Smith of Fort Myers, Fla., and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Bowman was preceded in death by two grandchildren, a sister, Mattie Johnson, and three brothers, Ted Bowman, Leonard Bowman and Lester Bowman.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Moody Funeral Home of Mount Airy conducted by Dr. Charles Howell and the Rev. Rickey Rogers. Burial will be in Skyline Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Moody Funeral Home of Mount Airy where the body will remain until the hour of the service.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Collinstown Presbyterian Church, 2868 Collinstown Road, Westfield, NC 27053.
