She was born July 17, 1909 in Cambridge, Nebraska to Mary Eliza and William Baker. She began her teaching career directly out of high school in a one room school house. Hazel was a life member of the Congregational Church in Cambridge.
Hazel was united in marriage to Patrick McKillip on November 11,1935. Shortly thereafter, they moved to Los Angeles and eventually to Corning, where they raised their four daughters, and then to Chico where she was a partner in the family business, McColl's Home Delivery Milk Route from 1961-1986.
Hazel is survived by her daughters Genny McFerrin of Oroville, Eleanor (Jim) Wadsworth of Reno, Nevada, Dorothy (Jim) Blewett of Shelter Cove, Calif., and Nancy (Ed) Davis of Glenmore, Penn.; 10 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. All will miss her greatly.
Hazel was preceded in death by her husband Pat, brothers Francis, Walter, Ansel, Ed, and Bert and sisters Nina, Grace, Dorothy, Edith and Lena.
Visitation will be Thursday, June 10th from 5 until 8 p.m. at the Brusie Funeral Home, 626 Broadway, Chico, Calif. Services will be held at the funeral home on Friday, June 11, 2004 at 11 a.m.
Burial will follow at Glen Oaks Memorial Park in Chico where she will be laid to rest beside her husband, Pat. Anyone wishing to make a memorial contribution may do so to the American Heart Association in care of the Funeral Home. Published in Chico Enterprise-Record on June 8, 2004.
