Hugh Arthur Davenport, 92, of Powder Springs died August 26, 2010. Services were held at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta. Interment was in Kennesaw Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mr. Davenport was born in Cobb County where he spent most of his life. He was of Baptist faith. He sang with a Southern Gospel quartet for many years. He was an Army Veteran of WWII. He served as Cobb County Justice of the Peace for many years. Mr. Davenport retired from Lockheed with over 35 years of service. He was a member of the Local Lodge 709; International Brotherhood Aerospace Workers; member of the Chattahoochee Bowlers Association where he was inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Survivors include his wife of 72 years Virgie S. Davenport of Powder Springs; daughters Frances Davenport Turner of Powder Springs, Brenda JoAnn Allen and her husband Dick of Beverly Hills, FL, and Carole E. Hartley and her husband Kelly of Hiram; special daughter Peggy Foreman of Canton; eight grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; brother Levern Davenport and his wife Ann of Powder Springs; nieces and nephews; special friends are Wayne Cook of Dallas and Buman Hitt of Marietta.
