Fred Landis was a retired teacher and farmer, having retired as a teacher in 1968 after 46 years at Lagro and Southwood high schools.
He was born March 2, 1902, in Huntington County to Frank and Sarah (Smith) Landis. He married Velma Thomas on May 22, 1931. She died March 22, 1975. He married Greeta Allen on Oct. 15, 1977. She survives.
Also surviving are a son, Edwin Landis; stepson, Lloyd Allen; two stepdaughters, Janet Kirkpatrick and Karen Metzger; one grandchild, seven step-grandchildren and eight step-great-grandchildren.
A brother and two sisters are deceased.
He was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church.
