Abram was the son of Eli Jones and Elizabeth. He was in the Company B 40th Alabama Regiment during the Civil War. On Jun 15 1864 he was shot in the left arm and had to have it amputated. He married Mary Simms Greer (dau of James Smith Valentine Greer and Catherine W. Fair). They had 5 children together. His wife Mary died around 1884 when the children were still very young. He later married Martha S Elmore and she helped him take care of the children. She died after 1910. He married his 3rd wife named Ella Edgeworth and had 2 children by her. Abram died in 1918 when his youngest child was an infant.
