Dorothea "Dot" Corn, age 76, of 202 Bowman Road, Erwin, went home to be with the Lord early Saturday morning, August 13, 2011, at the Center on Aging and Health.
She was born October 20, 1934, in Unicoi County. Mrs. Corn was the daughter of the late Arthur Blaine and Zora Tilson Guinn.
Mrs. Corn was retired from Morrill Motors after twenty six and a half years of service. She was a longtime member of Clear Branch Baptist Church. Mrs. Corn was a loving and devoted wife, mom, and mamaw.
Other than her parents, she is preceded in death by one brother, Dwight Guinn; two sisters, Dean Treadway and Rita Hoyle.
Mrs. Corn is survived by her husband of 58 years, Harry Corn; two sons, Edward A. "Eddie" Corn and wife, Nina, and Keith Corn, all of Erwin; three grandsons, Jason Corn, Ryan Corn and Keaton Corn, all of Erwin; one brother, James H. Guinn, Flag Pond; three sisters, Eva Martin, Erwin, Kathleen Hoyle, Greeneville, and Elouise Shell, of Erwin; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 8:00 P.M. Monday, August 15, 2011, in the chapel of Robert Ledford Funeral Home with Reverend Bill Ponder officiating. Special piano music will be provided by Inez Chandler. Roger Ambrose will provide special solo selections.
Active pallbearers will be Anthony Piercy, Doug Piercy, Roger Guinn, Jerry Hoyle, Teddy Hoyle and Jimmy Hoyle.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. Monday preceding the service at the funeral home.
The committal service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, August 16, 2011, at Evergreen Cemetery. Those attending should meet at the funeral home by 10:30 A.M. Tuesday to go in procession to the cemetery.
