The funeral will be held Wednesday at 11:00 at Woodstock United Methodist Church. Reverend David Palmer will officiate. Burial will follow in Sunset View Memorial Gardens in Woodstock.
Mrs. Aleshire was born April 23, 1925 in West Virginia, daughter of the late Joseph E. and Elizabeth Miller Hite. She retired from Woodstock Aileen in 1987. She was a lifetime member of Woodstock United Methodist Church where she was active in the ladies' quilting group. She loved preparing big family meals and catered many events for family and friends. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Samuel Ray Spence, whom she married on December 30, 1940. He died in action at the Battle of the Bulge during World War II in 1945. She married her second husband, Isaac Carson "Pete" Aleshire on April 23, 1949, and he passed away on February 17, 1974. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Nancy C. Lambert and Madeline H. Golladay; stepson, Wayne Carson Aleshire; and granddaughter, Margaret Spence Millner.
She is survived by son, Donald E. Spence and his wife, Dixie of Woodstock; daughter, Loretta "Cookie" Davis of Woodstock; son, Jerry C. Spence and wife, Jean of Rock Hall, MD; daughter, Candace A. Hausenfluck and her husband, Kenny of Woodstock; daughter, Peggy Sue Stickley and her husband, Larry of Woodstock; grandchildren, David Spence, Darren Spence, Elizabeth Scearce, Frank Davis, Holly Short, Debbie Spence, Aaron Hausenfluck, Ashley Cook, Amanda Clark and Justin Stickley; 17 great grandchildren; and two nieces, Jackie Lambert and Madolyn G. Doss, both of Woodstock.
Pallbearers will be Jesse Clark, Frank Davis, Aaron Hausenfluck, Kenny Hausenfluck, Justin Stickley, Larry Stickley, Darren Spence and Danny Dellinger.
Honorary pallbearers will be David Spence, Dr. Wallace Lutz, Lonnie Goad and Al Stickley.
The Dorcas Circle of Woodstock United Methodist Church will attend in a group.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7-8:30 p.m. at the Dellinger Funeral Home in Woodstock.
