WEST POINT – Reed Crowther Seegmiller, loving patriarch of our family, passed away Saturday, August 13, 2011, at his home. He was born December 13, 1926, a son of Charles Roscoe and Elizabeth Crowther Seegmiller, in Liberty, Utah.

Reed faithfully served his country in the United States Navy, serving in World War II. He also served for 5 ½ years in the Naval Reserves.

On June 6, 1952, he married Ellen Checketts in the Salt Lake Temple. They were married 29 years before her passing on April 3, 1981. On February 19, 1982, he married Leah Jean Hanks in the Ogden Temple. They were married 23 years before her passing on June 5, 2006.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and served in the Swiss Austrian Mission. He had a strong testimony of the gospel and he deeply loved his Heavenly Father and his brother Jesus Christ.

Reed worked at Hill Air Force Base as an Aircraft Electrician, retiring in 1971.

He enjoyed the mountains, going on rides, and especially loved his family. He loved to help people and give to others. His love and example will be a lasting guidance for his family, and those who knew and loved him.

Reed is survived by his daughter, Marie (Jerry) Tomlinson, Salt Lake City; and sons, Michael Reed (Lana) Seegmiller, West Haven, Jeffery Mark Seegmiller, and Matthew Seegmiller, both of West Point, 12 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Ellen, second wife, Leah, daughter, Michelle, brother, Charles, and sisters, Betty and Jeanean.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Comfort Care Hospice .

Graveside Services will be held on Wednesday, August 17, 2011, at 11:00 a.m., at Ogden City Cemetery, 20th and Madison Avenue, Ogden, Utah. A viewing will be held on Tuesday, August 16, 2011, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., at Myers Roy Mortuary, 5865 South 1900 West, Roy, Utah.

Interment in the Ogden City Cemetery.
