David A. Guenat Jr., 59, of Riesel, entered into rest Friday, Aug. 12, 2011. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 15, at the Riesel Cemetery with the Rev. Robert Kitson officiating. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Adams Funeral Home in Marlin.

David was born in Marlin, Texas, to David A. Guenat, Sr. and Gladys Koester Guenat. He was a truck driver and a heavy equipment operator, a lifelong resident of the Riesel-Falls County area, and a member of the Methodist Church. David was a compassionate, giving man and served as a volunteer EMT with the Riesel Volunteer Fire Dept. and the Riesel Mine Rescue Squad. He also served as Mayor of Riesel for six and a half years, loved to hunt and fish, and loved the Texas Rangers Baseball Team.

He was preceded in death by sister, Glinda Harbour; and a granddaughter, Jordan Kelley.

Survivors include his wife, Penie Guenat, of Riesel; sons, Brent Guenat, Kelley Guenat and wife, Stephanie, of Abilene, Daniel Guenat, of Riesel, and Dustin Goates, of Stephenville; daughters, Michelle Jackson, Lisa Zgarba and husband, Jeremy, Katie Tullous and husband, Kevin, Sarah Guenat, Kaitlyn Kreder and husband, Brandon, and Lacie Goates, all of Riesel; seven grandchildren; his parents, of Riesel; brothers, Kenneth Guenat and wife, Nancy, of Waco, Ricky Guenat and wife, Dawn, of Salado, and Terry Guenat and wife, Peggy, of Riesel; other family members, and many friends.
