Mrs. McConn Dies After Lingering Illness.
Mrs. Mollie Lee McConn died last Saturday at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Thos. E. Stanley, where for years past she had made her home. Surviving her are two daughters, Mrs. Thomas E. Stanley and Mrs. Charles W. Griffin, one brother, Mr. W. W. Wilkerson, of Birmingham, Ala., six grandchildren, Mrs. Mary Ellen McCoy, Miss Ruby Stanley, Thomas, Pattie and Emily Stanley, and Chas. W. Griffin, Jr., and one great grandchild, baby Mary Ellenor McCoy. The deceased was born June 26th, 1855; she was married to Mr. P. L. McConn in the spring of 1874 and lived at Brunswick, Ga., until the death of Mr. McConn, which took place Christmas, 1877. Returning to LaFayette, Mrs. McConn lived with her mother, Mrs. Catherine Wilkerson, until her death. After the death of her mother she lived with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Thos. E. Stanley, at which home she passed away after a lingering illness. The funeral services were held at the residence last Sunday afternoon when a large number of relatives and friends assembled, and were conducted by Dr. W. C. Bledsoe, a life long friend and former pastor, who paid a tender tribute to the memory of the deceased. Rev. W. D. Hubbard, pastor of the LaFayette Baptist Church, took part in the last sad rites. Many beautiful flowers were sent in by sympathetic friends. Mrs. McConn was a member of the Baptist Church and her life was a constant testimony to the humble faith that guided her along life's way. She was a most lovable woman - all who knew her loved her, and her death has saddened many hearts. She was a benediction in the home where her last years were spent and where she received the tenderest care.
