Matilda Ann (Adams) Vanderzee, wife of William Henry Vanderzee, daughter of Perry Adams and Ruth Cox, was born September 24, 1849 in Massachusetts. Matilda's parents and grandparents were born in the State of Maryland. Matilda and William were the parents of 5 children; Anna Rebecca,(1880-1959)- Perry Francis, b.1882 - William Egbert, b.1885 - Ruth Elizabeth 1888-1971 and Alice Conine 1895-1992.

Mrs. Matilda A. Vanderzee, wife of the Rev. Wm. H. Vanderzee, died this morning at 3 o'clock at her home 504 South Twenty-fifth Street. The funeral will be held next Sunday. The Rev. Mr. Vanderzee is the pastor of the Ninth Street Colored Christian church.
Lincoln Evening News, December 30, 1904 - Lincoln, Nebraska - MORTUARY The obsequies of the late Mrs. Vanderzee, wife of Rev. Vanderzee, will occur at the residence, 504 South Twenty-fifth Street, at 2:30 p.m. Sunday.
