Weaver Bickle

Weaver E. Bickle, 56, of Boise, died Thursday in a Boise hospital. He was born March 30, 1920, in Sumas, Wash., and attended school in Vancouver, Wash. He graduated from high school in 1940 and later completed two semesters at the College of Idaho. He started working for the Idaho State Police in 1952, was promoted to sergeant and port-of-entry coordinator in 1961. He then became lieutenant, and in April, 1967, worked as a special investigator for the commissioner of law enforcement. That same year he became lieutenant of the area. He married Betty Brogdon, Sept. 14, 1948, in Vancouver. He attended several schools of law enforcement including the 17th session of the Idaho Law Enforcement Academy, Pocatello, and the U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs Training School. He recently worked under the Motor Vehicle Division where he received Employee of the Year for the Driver Services Bureau in 1976. That same year he was nominated for the Employee of the Year for Idaho Public Employees Association. He was a member of the Idaho Peace Officers Association, First United Methodist Church; Elks Lodge, Vancouver; charter member, VFW Bicentennial Post No. 10444, and a member of the PTA.

Surviving are his wife; three daughters, Mrs. Richard (Brenda) Laing, Jody A. and Tracy R. Bickle; two sons, Kent J. and Kelly J., Boise; his stepmother, Mrs. Nellie Bickle, Portland; a sister, Mrs. Norman (Marjory) Holm, Vancouver; two half-sisters, Clarabelle Bickle and Mrs. David (Mary Ellen) White, both Portland; several aunts, including Mrs. Myrtle Cook, Vancouver; several uncles, and four grandchildren.
