Funeral of Mr. Garland Held in Haughton This Tuesday at Ten o'Clock
A report from one of the Banner's correspondents in the southern port of the parish states that funeral services for Mr. John G. Garland, of Elm Grove, were held in Haughton Tuesday morning at ten o'clock, with Rev. H.W. Ledbetter, pastor of the Bossier City Methodist Church officiating. The interment was under the direction of the Wellman Funeral Home, of Shreveport, and was in the Fillmore Cemetery.
Mr. Garland, who was thirty years of age, committed suicide by shooting himself through the heart at three o'clock Monday afternoon, the Parish Coroner, Dr. R.O. Carter, said in his report of the case. The cause of the suicide was worry over ill health it was stated.
Besides his mother, Mrs. Pearl Garland, the deceased is survived by a sister, Mrs. Leroy Horton, of Elm Grove.
