Salt Lake Tribune, The (UT) - January 30, 2002 Obituary: Glenna L. Clyde Nelson McBride. SALT LAKE CITY / HEBER CITY, UT - The matriarch of our earthly family, Glenna McBride, Passed away Tuesday, January 29, 2002 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Born on January 9, 1916 in Wasatch County, Heber City, Utah, the first child of Lional Dean Clyde and Adeline (Ardell) Buhler Clyde. Glenna attended school in Heber and graduated from Wasatch High. She attended Brigham Young University and then served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Northwestern Mission from 1935 - 1937. She married George Hugh Nelson, her eternal sweetheart, the 31st day of July 1940 in Panguitch, Utah. Soon after they sealed their marriage for eternity in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They resided in Los Angeles, California where they later bought and operated Carl's Frosty. Three children blessed their marriage: Clyde George Nelson (Beverly Nelson Walker) of Santa Clarita, CA; Patricia Nelson Dunn (Roy) of Holladay, UT; and Ronald Hugh Nelson (Valerie) of Redondo Beach, CA. Hugh Nelson passed away the 30th of May 1954, leaving Glenna with three young children to raise. With her faith in the Lord and her strong testimony she realized she would not bear this challenge alone. On the 3rd of September 1960, she married M. L. McBride; he passed away in October 1969. When she retired as a retail clerk, she moved to Holladay, Utah to live near her daughter, and her brothers and sisters. She resided in and loved the people of Holladay 4th Ward. Glenna lived the gospel of Jesus Christ. She was a friend to everyone and enjoyed people. She will be remembered for her loving and accepting ways. She truly loved and served our Savior throughout her life.

She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Edward W. Clyde, Roy J. Clyde; and sisters, Shirley Clyde MacNaughton, and Aunt Bonnie Hale (who was like a sister).

She is survived by her sisters; Barbara Clyde Allred of Heber, UT, and Ardean Clyde Anderson (Arvin) of Kamas, UT; one brother, Russell Kay Clyde (Betsy) of Johnstown, PA. Glenna is also survived by 13 grandchildren (Travis serving a mission in Maracaibo, Venezuela), 17 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and many loving extended member of the family. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 1, 2002 - 11 a.m. in the Holladay 28th Ward, 2625 Milo Way, Holladay, Utah. Friends may call on Friday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the services at the LDS Church. Interment will be in the Heber City Cemetery. Arrangements in the care of Olpin-Hoopes Funeral Home, Heber City. 435-654-1161 Special thanks to her friends at Willow Wood Care Center where she resided during her illness, and to Hospice who carried us through to the end.
