Obituary: Betha "Betty" J. Clyde. Betha (Betty) Jensen Clyde, 83, died January 4, 2000. She was born November 24, 1916 at her grandparents' home in Ephraim, Utah, and raised in Riverdale, near Preston, Idaho. She married Edward W. Clyde on August 14, 1941 in the Salt Lake Temple. She was a devoted wife and mother and loved spending time with the extended family at the ranch in Woodland. The span of her life included living in a log cabin without utilities, going to a two room school house on a horse-drawn sleigh, and witnessing the launch of one of the Apollo Moon missions. Her passions in life were good books and good friends, and she collected both throughout her life. She was a founding member of Daria book club, and studied the world's literature for more than 40 years. She was a supporter of the arts, especially the Utah Symphony, Ballet West, and Pioneer Memorial Theater. Betty always sought the good in people.

She is survived by her children, Carolyn (Richard) Mollinet Salt Lake; Susan (Mifflin) Williams, Bountiful; Steven (Elaine) Clyde, Salt Lake; and Tom Clyde, Woodland; 13 grand children and nine great-grandchildren; and her sister, Elna Kirkham. Also survived by many life-long friends who were a great comfort to her.

Preceded in death by her husband; and her brothers, Vernon Jensen and Don Jensen. The family expresses its gratitude for the kind and loving care she received at St. Joseph's Villa. Funeral services will be Friday, January 7 at noon at the Edgehill Ward Chapel, 1750 South 15th East, Salt Lake, where friends may call from 10:45 to 11:45. A viewing will be held at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple on Thursday January 6th from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the University of Utah Medical Center.
