W.L. "Bill" Allen, 67, died Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2011, at his residence in Fort Worth. Graveside service: 10 a.m. Monday in Birdville Cemetery.

Bill was born Feb. 17, 1944, in Fort Worth. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a longtime auto mechanic. He loved reading, museums, history, Fort Worth and the Fort Worth Cats, and he loved his grandchildren, Ty, Meredith, Elisa, Max and Allison. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, E.M. Allen and Estelle Allen.

Survivors: Daughters, Wendy McMillian and husband, Dale, of Cincinnati, Ohio, Amy Miller and husband, Tim, of Weatherford, sister, Sheila Patterson and husband, Mike, of Fort Worth; brother, Jimmy Allen of Fort Worth; five grandchildren; nephew, Jason Christian and wife, Christa, of Fort Worth; great-nephew, James Christian; and great-niece, Brittany Rivers.
