Marie Fulkerson

Marie Fulkerson, 96, of Carmi, passed away during the morning of Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro. She was born October 27, 1913, in Ridgway, IL, the daughter of Logan and Stella Smith. She married Chauncey W. Fulkerson on July 13, 1935 and he passed away on March 4, 1991. Mrs. Fulkerson worked in the office of Tubescope in Carmi. She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Burnt Prairie.

She is survived by a niece, Melba Fulkerson and family; close friends, Mr. and Mrs. David A. Johnson and family, and Mr. and Mrs. William Mears and family; and several other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Chauncey; and one brother, George Smith.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 12, 2009, at 1:00 pm, at Stendeback Family Funeral Home/Kittinger-Fair in Carmi. Visitation will be held from 11:00 am until the time time of services. Burial will take place in Burnt Prairie Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Phoenix Foundation.
